Completion of Winter 2026 Workshops

We successfully completed two Winter 2026 workshops: Innovation & Exploitation and Chemical Reaction Engineering and Design.

The Innovation & Exploitation Workshop provided practical training in patent literacy, freedom to operate (FTO), and strategic decision-making on when to patent. Participants followed a real patent application journey—from idea to evaluator communication—explored spin-off development, and created individual IRL roadmaps, gaining a business-oriented perspective on their research.

The Chemical Reaction Engineering and Design Workshop introduced key principles of flow chemical method design, sustainability, and techno-economic assessment. Participants examined sustainability and economic boundaries in the fine chemical industry and addressed real-world challenges, including single-atom catalysis.

Together, the workshops strengthened participants’ ability to translate research into innovative and sustainable solutions.

September 2025 Workshops Successfully Completed

In September 2025, we completed three intensive workshops strengthening both scientific and professional skills.

The Workshop on Photocatalysis and Ultrasound-Assisted Chemistry, led by Prof. Dr. Simon Kuhn from KU Leuven, covered light absorption, actinometry, reactor and light source design, and ultrasound-assisted chemistry.

The Workshop on Research Project Management and Administration, organized by experts from Politecnico di Milano and University of Graz, provided practical training in grant writing, funding strategies, budgeting, and team leadership.

The Workshop on NMR Spectroscopy, led by Prof. Dr. Renzo Luisi from University of Bari Aldo Moro, combined fundamental concepts with advanced applications through lectures and hands-on sessions.

These workshops enhanced participants’ technical expertise and research management capabilities.

Shedding Light on Flow: Research Exchange at KU Leuven

From June to September 2025, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rok Ambrožič is visiting KU Leuven University to collaborate with the research group of Prof. Dr. Simon Kuhn. The advanced research training is focused on the immobilization of Rose Bengal in electrodeposited hydrogels for photocatalytic oxidation under flow conditions. The work provides valuable insights into microreactor fabrication, photocatalyst stabilization, and kinetic analysis of model singlet oxygen reactions. Beyond the technical progress, the stay is further strengthening the partnership between UL FKKT and KU Leuven and is contributing to FlowCat’s broader vision of advancing sustainable photocatalytic flow technologies.

Completion of June Workshops within the FlowCat Framework

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the June series of workshops organized under the FlowCat framework.

The program commenced with a comprehensive workshop on biorefineries, which provided a strong foundation in sustainable and resource-efficient processing. This was followed by an in-depth session on green chemistry, further reinforcing the principles of environmentally conscious innovation.

The series concluded with a workshop dedicated to communicating research results, offering valuable insights into effective strategies and techniques used by communication experts.

We are grateful for the active participation and positive feedback from all attendees, which reflect the relevance and quality of the sessions delivered.
